A MYSTICAL AIR BREATHER!

Throughout our decades of fishing experiences nothing holds a candle to this particular encounter. It was certainly once-in-a-lifetime and we walk away feeling truly blessed to have had experienced it. Though it was only a by-catch it turned out to be the highlight of the session, if not lives!

A hot day's dismal fishing had turned into a pretty eventful one. We had trudged some way off the beaten track in search of the humble Bass and maybe even a Yellowbelly Perch. We found none, but after hours of hopping vibes off the bottom we had a take and a good one at that. A heavy slugfest ensued and before long we were staring at a truly strange creature! It was a Lungfish, sporting 'legs' and super large scales! The encounter was surreal.

We've seen publications documenting Lungfish as by-catches but never on lures let alone a hardbody. The Australian Lungfish is listed as endangered and highly protected. Possession of one is illegal and so, much care was taken to ensure they were released with minimal fuss. Even though we were ecstatic.

A hefty fish on the ultralight Major Craft MS-X spin rod and 4lb mainline. Runs were slow but powerful, and very sluggish...

It snapped at a passing Jackall TN50 vibe. Note its puppy-like face...

What we didn't expect was to encounter a second Lungfish later in the day! And we still had trouble catching Bass...

This second fish got pinned by a Jackall Mask Gene soft vibe twitched sporadically. What a day!

THE NEW FEED FLIP JIG!

We're all excited about the brand spankin' new FLIP jig from FEED Lures. First chance we got to introduce them to some local residents we wasted no time...

The GTs reacted to these fluttering wizards. When jerked the erratic darts seemed irresistible...

This is the FLIP15 - sized right and properly weighted at 15gm to deal with shore casting work...

When let to sink to the bottom we picked up a Striped Snapper...

Then it was back to the pelagics, with another feisty GT which went hard on the ultralight Major Craft MS-X spin rod outfit...

The FEED FLIP jig is rigged with an assist hook together with a trailing stinger hook...

Before long the session was over, but not before we picked up another little Stripey at the end on the FLIP jig...
The FEED Lures FLIP jigs are available in 15, 25 & 40gm variations and can be found in a store near you now!

GETTING SALTY!

Broke out the light tackle spin outfit for some fun in the sun with brutes in confined spaces...

Rod in question is the amazingly sensitive Major Craft Corzza in 5-10lb guise. This GT did well but it wasn't good enough...

It fell for the natural-swimming IMA Sasuke Shad 75...

Spybaiting turned a quiet morning on its head. This fat Grouper was more than a handful on the light outfit...

The original spybait: the DUO Spin Bait in its largest size, the 90...

Another Grouper came to play...

Its the DUO Spin Bait again...

We have to go slow to fool these Red Drums, easily the most finicky fish to catch...

There isn't a better lure for slow dead-sticking than the Jackall Baby Giron. Boy do these Red Drums go hard when hooked...

The same works the same for the Grouper population as well, and before long the Major Craft Corzza is loaded up tight...

The Jackall Baby Giron is gold...

Meanwhile its hard to go pass a good soft plastic to turn around a slow day with these Groupers...

Worked with the lithe Major Craft Sky Road spin stick, this Jackall Glossy Shad scores...

A long and lean and very well-proportioned Estuary Cod showed its health with a great skirmish on the Major Craft Corzza rod...

The Jackall Baby Giron doesn't stop...

Yet another fat Grouper in successive casts...

Can't speak highly enough of the Jackall Baby Giron...

The Groupers seemed to be lining up for a shot each...

The Jackall Baby Giron stays intact despite the onslaught and continues to score! But alas the lure is soon lost...

Going light is key to fooling the smart GTs...

The Jackson Pygmy Vibe proves the best tool for the job. Worked with the Major Craft Sky Road ultralight spin stick it scores...

Once another gun lure makes its appearance the Groupers keep on the chew...

Similar in profile to its hard-bodied brother the Baby Giron, the soft Jackall Clone Gill does the damage all the same...

Meanwhile the GTs are still getting harassed by some very successful jerkbaits...

The IMA Survivor 50 is small but packs a big punch especially when casting due to its heavily weighted inners...

The Groupers continue to attack the super life-like soft plastic as they cross paths...

Its the Jackall Clone Gill, and there's nothing else like it...

Back to the subtle spinning blades of the spybait to fool another fish...

The DUO Spin Bait does it again...

Just as the Jackall Clone Gill scores yet another...

They are specially rigged on the awesome Geecrack Corn Head jigheads and are the perfect fit...

More soft plastic action against another willing customer...

Its the Jackall I-Shad which gets inhaled...

Meanwhile, throwing something different gets a response from the very picky Groupers...

Its the IMA Flechette that does it...

The Red Drums arern't spared from this phenomenal soft plastic lure...

The Jackall Clone Gill scores one...

Not long after another Red Drum is in the net, it went hard on the UL Major Craft KG Lights rod...

The Jackall I-Shad is no slouch when it comes to fooling fussy fish...

One last brute for the day, on the Major Craft Corzza spin rod...

The Jackall Clone Gill defines natural baitfish representations, and accounts for yet another fish...
