DREAM COMES TRUE!

We continue our journey Downunder with a trip through tropical Queensland and the meeting of a very special guest. We spend a couple of days on the water with esteemed angler Rod Harrison, someone who has helped shape the Aussie angling community with his years of sharing through various media channels. We would make the best of the two days aboard to chase tropical estuarine species and soak in the experience with fishing with a true guru...

Our steed for the couple of days of fishing a magnificent river...

We share the boat with some really good guys, and the hopes are high...

These days we never travel without some of the brand new FEED Lures Jungle rods. They are made for exactly this type of work...

First blood is drawn with a baby GT in the boat courtesy of an IMA Sasuke...

Casting to some shallow bars definitely gets the attention of an ambushing Flathead. The DUO Realis Jerkbait does the job...

There were no shortage of baby GTs in this river system. And they liked the DUO Realis Jerkbaits we were chucking...

Two GTs jumped into the boat in quick succession by swiping at the DUO Realis Jerkbait...

The predators didn't seem to be shy. This Mangrove Jack certainly wasn't...

The big DUO Fangbait 120DR sure got its attention. And the FEED Jungle had the fish muscled to the boat in no time...

When things slowed down we scoured the river with the little IMA Koume and found this beautiful Long Fin Trevally...

And in the shallows we'd definitely find Flathead like this one on the IMA Sasuke...

The next capture would be a truly special one. As the day grew long with a lack of action we would encounter some big fish holding deep with the sounder. Chucking everything in the box at them would yield nothing for a long time until this horse decided it liked the IMA Slap Honey lipless vibe. The fight was epic on the 4-pc travel spec FEED Jungle baitcast rod and when the beast was in the net we would all rejoice...

We've been hoping all day for an encounter of one of these trophy fish and we put in the hours. Alas the dream would come through, and after a swift fight we had this 20kg+ Barra on the lap for a quick pic before obligatory revival and release. What a fish...

The sunset was especially sweet on this evening...

Next day was another tough one with no fish all morning. We resorted to fishing specific holes with the vibes on the FEED Jungle Spin rod, and found this willing GT which pulled some drag...

It smashed the DUO Tide Vibe Score hard...

Slow morning ends with a nice wrap for lunch...

Then its back to chucking the vibes and getting lucky with a nice Golden Trevally which went hard on the FEED Jungle spin rod...

Again its the DUO Tide Vibe Score which scores...

Magical Rod Harrison gets quite a few casts in despite the slow fishing, and finds this very eager Yellowfin Bream which attacked the DUO Realis Jerkbait...

We try mighty hard and get a Mangrove jack to show for our efforts...

Mangrove Jacks are one of the most exciting sportfish to target, they go hard. The DUO Realis Jerkbait is a proven lure for out smarting these sneaky fish...

Before long its the end of a great day. We retreat by sunset with much to recount. It was an awesome two days fishing with a legend...

AUSSIE BASSIN'!

The Australian Bass are a pretty special fish. They take a little coaxing, presenting an interesting challenge for the fisherman, and will reward with a feisty fight once fooled. The chase is an awesome one...

Most sessions begin in the dark. And under the cover of darkness the humble Bass is a topwater smasher. This nice fish fell for the walking FEED Lures BELL5 popper to get things rolling...

Other times they can be really vary and then its the finesse action of the IMA Aldente which makes the killing...

And another Bass hits the deck. On the ultralight Major Craft N-One spin rod, it is exciting times...

With the sunrise behind us, the game gets harder so the really good lures shine through. Finesse is key...

The DUO Toto Shad scores...

Small lures like this DUO Toto 48 cast and worked with the Major Craft MS-X Limited ultralight spin rod is what it takes...

As the day heats up the fish tend to retreat to the depths. So other methods are employed to fool another nice Bass...

Lipless vibes to search out fish don't get much better than the notorious TN50 by Jackall...

And once the method works it usually finds more. Here's another good Bass to close the session off...

The Jackall TN50 is gold...

CASTING AT SAILS!

With the Sailfish season in full swing, the opportunity to hurl some lures at them was just too irresistible. So we set out for a couple of days on the water...

Weather looks good, so it couldn't be a bad day...

First drop with the micro jig sees a nice little Flounder on the FEED FLIP15 jig...

Sea Breams are always abundant in these parts, and always willing...

We found plenty with the FEED FLIP jigs...

Even squid got in on it...

These little jigs catch everything, nothing escapes...

The new DUO Drag Metal jigs work well out here as well...

And the FLIPs continue to haul in the Sea Breams...

First Sail of the day after locating a school. We chuck floating stickbaits at them with the light FEED Jungle spin rod and it proved it had plenty of power against a rampaging Sail...

The always reliable DUO Aomasa stickbait scores on cue...

Didn't take too long to find another ferocious fighter for the FEED Jungle rod. The JBS-68H rod took it in stride...

This Sail liked the FEED Lures SWISH stickbait...

The DUO Realis Pencil 130 has accounted for many trophies since its release and this Sail adds to it. Its casting ability in offshore conditions coupled by its stable walking in the waves makes it a winner once again...

This Sail is just the right size for maximum fun with the light FEED Jungle rod...

It had obviously been in some wars, and had lost its bill some time ago. Didn't stop it from smashing the Realis Pencil though!

We spent the lull between chasing Sails with the ultralight micro jig rods in hand, and a FEED jig at the end of the line...

The Go-Emotion Micro Jig Special rod by Major Craft is the perfect partner for this type of work...

Here's a nice Cobia to cap off the trip. Another feather in the cap for the mighty FEED FLIP jig...
