THE MYSTICAL LUNGFISH!

Another shore based session chasing Aussie Bass turns into something more interesting when we encounter the prehistoric Australian Lungfish. These fish are on the endangered list so much care was taken to ensure they were put back safely and healthily...

First blood is drawn with an invasive species. The humble Tilapia is now found all over the globe. They can be highly aggressive especially near spawn time and wouldn't pass up a little morsel like this Jackall Chubby Vibe...

With the ultralight Major Craft MS-X Limited spin rod meant for Bass, we hook up on a way bigger fish and the fight takes quite some time...

And this creature turns up at our feet with the Jackall TN50 in its mouth...

Its the mystical Australian Lungfish. What a sight!

Few casts in and the Jackall TN50 is snatched again, but again it is no Bass...

We had never expected the Lungfish to be predatory lure munchers, but were proven wrong. Instead of Bass we got an encounter with these brilliant fish so it was an awesome session none the less...

IMPOUNDMENT CASTING!

It's a sunny day in Queensland Australia, which almost guarantees a great day on the water! This time its a dammed impoundment with some light outfits to see what's biting...

The sun has risen proper upon arrival, and the scenery is stunning...

Chucking a topwater lure amongst some weedbeds, we find a fat dam Bass on the Major Craft Speed Style spin rod pretty quick...

Its the FEED Lures BELL8 popper which scores...

Few casts later and another surface explosion is followed by another nice Bass in the boat...

This time its the FEED Lures BULB8 doing the work...

As the sun rose we seek covered coves with lots of vegetation that just scream 'fish'...

Instead of Bass the next hook up is a beautiful Yellowbelly or Golden Perch...

It took a slow hopped Geecrack Swing Chatter chatterbait...

We learn that not all Bass are big, this smallie took a relatively large IMA Pin Jack diver...

Casting the Imakatsu Alive Chatter amongst sunken vegetation is a sure fire way to find good Bass we learnt...

And two nice Bass are in the boat in quick succession courtesy of the Imakatsu Alive Chatter...

Meanwhile, for Golden Perch going deeper is the way to go...

The DUO Realis Shad is awesome for this kind of work...

The Imakatsu Alive Chatter doesn't fail often when cast next to structure and slowly worked...

As does the DUO Realis Shad, as the Bass come onto the bite...

Great to see beautifully conditioned proportionate fish in this dam, these native Australian fish are just great lookers under the glistening sunlight...

The DUO Realis Shad finds another small one...

And the Imakatsu Alive Chatter matches it with yet another fat fish...

Switching up with the deep diving OSP Power Dunk finds this fish hanging deep...

You know the fishing's good when we get two in the boat at once...

The Jackall Soul Shad accounts for this one...

We spend the whole day on the water and the beauty of the place is enhanced with the late afternoon sun...

In the warm setting sunlight the rod buckles hard with a strong take. We get this beautiful Golden Perch to the boat after a few tense moments...

It fell for a slowly worked IMA Bita 70, a lure which attracted a few strong hits but failed to connect prior to this beauty...

With heavy hearts we had to call an end to the day as the setting sun chased us off the water...

BAY BOATING DOWNUNDER!

Tackle Source is still Downunder in sunny Queensland, this day is spent terrorizing the inhabitants in the bay...

Fishing's always best with predawn starts, so we are up and out bright and early...

Didn't take too long to find a fish that's willing, but its a small Trevally on the DUO Realis Jerkbait...

Few casts later we find a better specimen, this nice Trevally put up a nice fight on the FEED Jungle spin rod...

And like the one before, this guy smashed a DUO Realis Jerkbait...

Next up we whip out the ultralight spin outfit and the tiny DUO Toto Shad lure in the hope for a few good Bream...

Instead its a nice Estuary Cod which entertains on the ultralight Major Craft MS-X Limited spin rod...

The Bream stay elusive but a baby Snapper seems to like this CSP Power Dunk diver...

And how about a nicer one which fell for the lithe DUO Tetra Works Bivi vibe?

We then target Snapper with a little larger lure like this DUO Realis Vibe but turn up this Tuskfish instead...

Meanwhile its the ultralight outfit with the Major Craft Para Worm soft plastic which scores another Snapper...

But its the bigger lures worked deep which find the bigger fish. This is a nice Flathead which put a nice bend in the FEED Jungle spin rod...

It took a DUO Bay Ruf lipless vibe worked off the bottom with gusto...

The fishing was pretty hard with changing conditions but as always, a day on the water beats anything...

SHORE BASED AUSTRALIAN BASS

The best way to get warm on a cold wintry morning is to get a workout from some feisty fish at the end of the line. So this is how we spent this chilly early daybreak while Downunder, chasing the addictive Australian Bass...

In the predawn darkness the topwater strikes are spectacular...

The FEED Lures BULB8 is a constant producer and this nice Bass fell for one...

When the sun comes up these Bass shy away from the surface so we dive a little deeper to find them hunting below. The ultralight Major Craft MS-X Limited spin rod is the perfect tool for chucking little lures...

And the little DUO Spearhead Ryuki is a top producer...

The big Bass a wily old fish so finesse methods are the only way to get a reaction to feed. This is one nice Bass that fell to the downsizing methods...

The tiny IMA Koume 40 vibe was its downfall...

Meanwhile the little minnows worked slow off the bottom continued to find the targets...

The DUO Spearhead Ryuki does the damage...

We cap the early session off with another nice Bass which was released after the picture was taken like all the rest...

It fell for the diving floating DUO Spearhead Ryuki MDF version...
