TACKLING THE FRESH!

The monsoon is over and the saltwater scene is in full swing. Here's a collective look at what the freshwater season just past has brought. As always, the right lures do the trick and the right gear puts the fish in the net...

Giant Snakehead on an Evergreen Wildhunch lure and Majorcraft Day's spin rod...

Megabass Live-X Revenge is a hot Jungle Perch lure in these parts...

Some Peacock Bass action with a quick twitched Jackson Rogos - an all-time favourite! Varivas Rain Hat keeps the sun off too...

A nice Common Snakehead on a Megabass Anthrax swam past its lair...

A brooding Giant Snakehead couldn't resist the Akatora coloured Megabass Deep-X crank...

Peacocks love speed and the twitched IMA Trip does the trick every time...

Little Mayan Cichlid went aggro over the IMA Bta...

The IMA Gene is a lord of twitches and Peacock Bass seem to agree. Majorcraft Day's put to good use. Cap by Evergreen!

More IMA Gene action with another nice Bass on the Day's spin rod as well...

Topwater action is always thrilling with the willing Peacock Bass. Megabass Dog-X worked with the light Majorcraft Beneyro spin rod accounts for this one...

Big Jungle Perch are trophies when fishing in our local waterways and this isn't a bad one at all. Lure of choice: the Jackson Trout Tune HW is a heavy weighted jerkbait that gets down and swims in strong currents with utmost stability...

A beaut Jungle Snakehead which fell for another Jackson Trout Tune HW. This lure rocks in the many jungle rivers we have...

Giant Snakehead on poppers are always the best way to catch them. Megabass Pop-X is magic with its splash and walk...

Another popper munching Giant Snakehead. Megabass Destroyer baitcast rod did it in...

Evergreen One's Bug is one of the most effective freshwater poppers on the shelves now...

Another horse of a Jungle Perch that liked a hot green IMA Keep 90 - another lure we can't speak more of...

Jungle Perch are the fish to chase in our rivers for maximum thrills. Deep Zipbait Khamsins are de riguer in every freshies' tackle box, especially in gold hues...

The IMA Ligid has carved a niche for itself as THE Jungle Perch lure in these parts. The Majorcraft Beneyro rod is a great tool for handling these fish. Its light weight making all-day casting a breeze...

With Peacock Bass in shallow weed-strewn waters the IMA Trip is hard to beat...

IMA Ligid and Megabass Tomahawk combo with a small Giant Snakehead...

When the monsoon is in swing, the Jungle Perches come out to play. Multiple hook-ups aren't uncommon and here's a pair on Jackson Trout Tune and Megabass Dog-X...

Jackson Trout Tunes are the keys to solving the Jungle Perch puzzle...

Trout Tune goes all day with the schooling Jungle Perch. Majorcraft Day's rod is the perfect one-hand flick-stick...

More doubles on Jackson Trout Tunes in different shades...

Another lure gaining a reputation amongst the Jungle Perch chasers - the Megabass Spin Drive, a deep diving shad...

Jungle Perch will attack topwater plugs with gusto when in the mood. This angry fish fell for a Megabass Pop Max worked methodically with the Evergreen Kaleido Spin Cobra Q7 rod...

A smaller Jungle Perch on the IMA Pugachev's Cobra pencil...

When things go quiet and the fish hang deep, small jigs like the IMA Gunpeki come into their own and kick start a dull session...

In heavy cover, the lithe Viva Mazzy Frog is rarely refused by any residents. This Cobra Snakehead was caught in typical textbook style. The Evergreen Kaleido spin rod was an essential tool for skull-dragging the fish out though...

Small jungle streams can provide hours of fun with ultralight gear for Jungle Perch and the like. This fella liked the Jackson Athlete jerkbait and wasn't the only one caught...

Another Mazzy Frog victim, a small Snakehead...

We can go all day with IMA Gunpekis dropped into Jungle Perch schools hanging deep. It was a fish a drop at most times, the kind of fishing we like!
