BIG POND CATS!

To visit a new place always gets the spirits high. The chance to sample a new stocked lake where few have cast a lure would be too hard to pass on. Armed with a 4-pc travel special Go-Emotion spin stick from Major Craft and a box of lures, we hit the water...

The fishing was tough at first. Deep structure-less water meant it was tough sussing out likely holes. It took a while to put a bend into the Go-Emotion rod...

It was a no contest with this juvenile Chao Phraya Catfish...

It fell for the life-like swimming of the IMA Honey Trap...

With clear waters only the most natural swimming lures worked. This nice Alligator Gar was fooled by the jointed IMA Scarecrow swimbait but it managed to throw the hook after this picture was taken...
The small Chao Phraya Cats were obliging with their greed...
Another IMA Honey Trap victim...
The Major Craft Go-Emotion is lightly loaded with another feisty taker...

But soon the spool sheds its line fast, this is a big one...

After a long battle on the light gear, we land this nice Chao Phraya Catfish. They grow much bigger but on this gear a fish this size is more than a handful...

The IMA Honey Trap seemed to be the only lure these fish were keen to attack. We hit another rampaging fish but the hooks pulled after an equally long fight...

Working the deeper columns of the water we get lucky with a Walking Catfish that took a liking to a Jackall TN50 lipless vibe...

Then we follow it up with another, this time using a rigged Jackall Dragon Bug soft plastic hopped on the bottom...

As the air cools the activity heightens and we are rewarded once again with a stellar fight on the light spin outfit that is the Major Craft Go-Emotion...

A surprise catch indeed - a hefty Mekong Catfish that went hard and fast...

It fell for none other than the IMA Honey Trap. What an awesome experience...

The sun sets on a great day on the water...
