DESERT BLUES!

Tackle Source takes to the dunes in an expedition a little further afield. The aim was for new species and some trophies on topwater gear, and new personal bests hopefully. Like always fishing is a game of chance and it wasn't the easiest trip for any of us. But here's the journey never the less...

With great ambitions we trek North-west in search of our quarry...

With gears to put any shop to shame we planned well...

Alas after a lay-over we finally have the gears in the back of a 4WD to embark on the final leg on wheels...

The road is long and dusty but it held gems if you kept your eyes open...

You don't chance upon much life-form in the stark desert but here the Camels call home...

The shoreline cliffs made for magnificent sights...

The coastline was endless...

We find an unusual oasis in a valley...

And from asphalt we then find ourselves on the deep blue with Porpoises for company as we motor to our first spot...

First things first, Bluefish were a first for all of us so we spent a morning getting excited over these amazing fish. First one in the boat got fooled by an IMA Honey Trap lipless pencil...

Distance was key and the DUO Press Bait Fusion was the perfect lure for the job...

Meanwhile the IMA Honey Trap gets another customer...

The trick was to get your lure into the wash zone, hook ups were sporadic with many misses and thrown hooks but it was maximum fun none the less...

The DUO Press Bait Fusion was collecting battle scars...

Some models were pretty decent sized and put up a tough acrobatic fight. Note Major Craft Crostage casting rod loaded up in the background...

The IMA Honey Trap does more damage...

As does the DUO Press Bait Fusion...

Regardless of size these Bluefish go hard...

The IMA Barbarossa 120 gets on the scorecard...

The fish hang around but get smart, so it was just switching lures until we get another fooled...

A switch to the Jackson Pintail Tune did the trick...

While the good ol' IMA Barbarossa picks up this little Triggerfish...

With another hook up on the Major Craft Crostage in the back this fish takes centre stage...

This time its the Jackson Muscle Shot which does this fish in...

Another IMA Barbarossa victim hits the deck...

After countless misses we finally nail one on a topwater pencil...

The FEED Lures SPEAR pencil scores...

In amongst the Bluefish are some bruiser Spangled Emperor too, and boy do they go hard even on decent gear like the Major Craft Giant Killing offshore casting rods...

The DUO Press Bait Fusion doing what it does best...

Another hot DUO product, the Rough Trail Blazin' scores another Bluefish...

While the DUO Press Bait Fusion continues to pull fish...

With two in a row...

A switch to the DUO Press Bait Fusion Wide also pays off...

Here's a very decent specimen which went hard and fast...

The Jackson Pintail is a heavy weight long casting offshore performer which certainly did the trick...

We get a kick pulling Spangled Emperors out of wretched underwater structure...

The DUO Press Bait Fusion Wide scores a win...

And backs it up with another toothy Bluefish...

Going with bigger lures usually mean attracting more decent specimens...

The DUO Rough Trail 130S fulfils the brief...

While its smaller brother the DUO Rough Trail Blazin' makes do with a Snapper...

Back on shore we get pampered with some tasty crustaceans...

Its Cray season and so its a party!
