WEST COAST WONDER!

Offshore we head, for some slow pitch jigging action coupled with some exciting topwater pelagic chasing. It's been awhile since we've been onboard so the excitement was felt by all. The blistery weather had us concerned but soon gave way to a clear window and some decent fishing. Here's the trip in pics...

We had the accompaniment of some new jigs like the Shout! Cradle and Xesta Slippy slow fall specials...

No time was wasted in setting up the gear...

The bad weather had us holed up in a shallow cove, so out came the brand new FEED Lures FLIP jig for some smallies like this Snapper...

The FLIP jig has proven itself in prototype form and now the finished product has us all excited...

As it poured we persevered. The Major Craft Go-Emotion Micro Jig Special gets a good workout on a decent fish...

Its a baby GT on the ultralight outfit...

The FEED FLIP jig in 15g guise scores...

Meanwhile the reefies continue to come aboard...

There are truly some extraordinary species to add to the FLIP capture list...

The mainstay remains the feisty reef Snapper...

Regardless of size these lil' Snappers react positively...

More hard rod-bending action and a nice Queenfish is coaxed to the boat with the ultralight Go-Emotion Micro Jig Special...

The FEED Lures FLIP jig scores big!

Then the procession continues...

As we get deeper into the reefs the Groupers start to show...

Nothing resists the lure of the FEED FLIP jigs...

The Blue Hinds are consistently hauled up with the new jig...

Alas we get to do some more serious fishing in the deeper holes as the weather breaks...

A nice Estuary Cod falls for the FEED Lures Madai jig worked on a radical slow jig rod...

The rod in question is a prototype stick developed in collaboration with rod-extraordinaires Major Craft. Signs are looking good thus far...

Another nice Cod its the deck. The good old Major Craft Giant Killing Slow Pitch special does its trick...

The Shout! Shab Shab is a firm fluttering favourite of ours...

Then an awesome Golden Snapper is tamed by the Giant Killing rod next...

The Evergreen Caprice jig finds a victim...

The new Xesta Slippy jig worked with the prototype rod finds a small Grouper...

The day is short but we plug on...

Luck would see another Estuary Cod in the boat courtesy of the Xesta Flap slow jig...

The perfect result for the prototype slow pitch rod, a fat Golden Snapper...

It had the Xesta Slippy slow jig firmly lodged...

As the light faded a nice rare Trevally hits the deck...

The Xesta Flap jig scores...

In the sunset we cast, and the GTs are on the chew as this nice one gets boated with the use of the Major Craft Crostage Light Popping stick...

The FEED Lures BELL60 popper has established itself as the go-to popper in these waters...

In the dark the GTs still found our topwater lures...

The FEED BELL60 finds another fine fish...

The Major Craft Giant Killing Light Popping outfit works into overtime as the fish hit into the darkness...

The FEED BELL60 hits again!

Its a nice GT indeed, and a great day's end...

After dinner the first Bigeye Trevally hits the deck...

With the Jackson Pintail Tune lure firmly lodged...

We get to put the new Glow-in-the-dark painted FEED FLIP15 to good use...

On the casting outfit and the Jackson Pintail Tune another Bigeye is landed...

The Major Craft Go-Emotion Micro Jig Special rod is punished all night with the likes of this Bigeye Trev...

The FEED FLIP15 goes on a rampage...

Bigeye after Bigeye, all night long...

They love the Glow FEED FLIP15...

The feisty fish are hooked in all manner as they rush the irresistible FEED jigs...

The Bigeyes hang around the anchored boat for a long time and it was a matter of picking them out of the school...

Non-glow FEED FLIP works all the same...

Meanwhile the IMA Ichimatsu mini jig proves its worth as well with a nice Bigeye Trev...

The Bigeyes come in a varied sizes but are all fun, and they all love the FLIP jigs...

Another over-enthusiastic one gets fouled by the FEED FLIP...

Colours don't matter, its the flutter and action which makes this jig stand out even in the dark...

Next we get a different visitor in the form of some bruiser GTs which are more than a handful on the ultralight Go-Emotion Micro Jig Special rods...

The FEED FLIP15 gets them fooled too...

They are big. And we lose quite a few fish on the ultralight gear...

The FEED FLIP15 scores another trophy...

The Major Craft Go-Emotion Micro Jig Special is a joy to use, all night and day long...

Another GT capture on the outfit...

And of course on the FEED FLIP15 as well...

Everyone gets in on the action with the light stuff...

IMA Ichimatsu mini jig scores as well...

There seems no end for some time. The Go-Emotion Micro Jig Special takes it in its stride...

More GTs are encountered, on almost every drop. This time the IMA Ichimatsu scores as we run out of FEED jigs...

A smaller specimen but no less fun, on the IMA Ichimatsu jig as well...

The arms feel it but the mind says no to stopping as the GTs keep piling on. The IMA Ichimatsu colour is swapped but the results remain the same...

You can't tire with the GTs on the chew...

They like the Jackall Laser jig in a glow pink too...

And its pretty evident with two consecutive fishes...

The Jackall Laser is one deadly jig too...

A Bludger Trevally decides to pop into the party. The Micro Jig Special Go-Emotion rod loves it...

It fell for a Xesta After Burner jig...

Bright and early doesn't get the biggie but this IMA Ichimatsu jig wrangles a tiny reefie to the boat...

We then find a prowling GT which couldn't resist a prototype stickbait worked with the FCL Labo light popping rod...

We were glad it wasn't a loner and soon a mate got a peek of the boat and its occupants...

With the perfect conditions the FCL Labo CSP pencil is a hard lure to beat...

And it proves just that as another GT is fooled...

The FCL Labo CSP pencil, got one?

On the jig front we find a juvenile Almaco Jack with the Evergreen Caprice and Poseidon Slow Jerker combo...

Then its typical pandemonium when we hit a school of Cobia, with fish landed and lost in the melee...

This Xesta Slippy jig capture is a good one, and on the prototype slow pitch rod it was maximum fun...

Schooled up were Cobia of all sizes, it was a lucky dip...

This one took a Shout! Lance slow jig and got nailed...

A big one hits the deck after a grueling fight...

The Xesta Flap jig is the victor...

On the strong Evergreen Poseidon Spin Jerker jig rod this Cobia had zero chance...

It lived to regret taking this pretty FCL Labo SL jig...

The party lasted a few good drifts and the fish kept coming up, this one on the Major Craft Giant Killing Slow Pitch Special rod...

The Shout! Strobe is another fantastic slow jig which has earned its keeps with every angler...

Speaking of Shout! Strobe jigs, how about this awesome rare capture of a Javelin Fish on one?

And then asserting its authority with this Mackeral Tuna as well. There is no stopping the Shout! Strobe jig...

From the depths comes a Squid which got impaled when it went for the Xesta Flap jig...

In the shallower reefs we downsize the tackle and jigs and come up with this GT on the ever-successful IMA Ro jig...

With the ultralight stuff the FEED FLIP15 jig adds a Hardtail Scad to the species list...

Then also adds a Yellowfin Trevally to it...

On this trip we have added a new jig to the list of all-time greats in its maiden official outing. The feeling's great!
