SHORE BASED AUSTRALIAN BASS

The best way to get warm on a cold wintry morning is to get a workout from some feisty fish at the end of the line. So this is how we spent this chilly early daybreak while Downunder, chasing the addictive Australian Bass...

In the predawn darkness the topwater strikes are spectacular...

The FEED Lures BULB8 is a constant producer and this nice Bass fell for one...

When the sun comes up these Bass shy away from the surface so we dive a little deeper to find them hunting below. The ultralight Major Craft MS-X Limited spin rod is the perfect tool for chucking little lures...

And the little DUO Spearhead Ryuki is a top producer...

The big Bass a wily old fish so finesse methods are the only way to get a reaction to feed. This is one nice Bass that fell to the downsizing methods...

The tiny IMA Koume 40 vibe was its downfall...

Meanwhile the little minnows worked slow off the bottom continued to find the targets...

The DUO Spearhead Ryuki does the damage...

We cap the early session off with another nice Bass which was released after the picture was taken like all the rest...

It fell for the diving floating DUO Spearhead Ryuki MDF version...
