The humble Peacock bass is once again the focus of our day in the woods. Waist deep in the lake is the best way to spend a day chasing these beautiful things with fins...
Small jigs like the IMA Gun Peki can often turn a slow session around. And it did on this day... |
On this day we were testing out a new prototype mule for FEED rods. And it was a joy to use, especially on fish like this... |
Also put to good use was the brand new DUO Drag Metal Cast jig, and it shone like many of DUO's other products... |
The Zebra Cichlid is a welcome bycatch and they go hard when hooked... |
This one took a slow worked DUO Realis Vibration... |
Using small jigs meant more water can be covered, and it usually paid dividends... |
The new DUO Drag Metal Cast jig is an awesome tool for this work... |
Peacock Bass are suckers for fast twitched lures, and they don't get much better than the DUO Spearhead Ryuki. This one got nailed nice... |
Meanwhile the prototype rod delivered the goods with the long casts and crisp action. Another PB is nailed... |
Its the DUO Drag Metal Cast at it again... |
Not to be outdone is the tiny IMA Gun Peki jig. Here it produces when worked with the awesome Evergreen Kaleido rod... |
Twitch baits seldom go unnoticed around these parts... |
And the OSP Rudra is one of the best in the game... |
The fish keep cooperating fortunately, and another nicely marked one is landed courtesy of the IMA Gun Peki... |
Zebra Cichlids are a little less aggressive but with the right lures they are a viable target... |
The DUO Spinbait G-fix worked slow was just too inviting... |
As the day wore on the bite got hotter. Here's a tandem on DUO Lures, the Realis Jerkbait and Spearhead Ryuki... |
The DUO Realis Jerkbait deserves special mention as a PB lure extraordinaire... |
There's nothing more exciting as a spectacular topwater take, and this fish gave just that... |
It smashed the DUO Realis Pencil Popper in close quarters and got everyone wet in the process... |
The new FEED Rod prototype was tested with a variety of lure fishing styles. From super long casts with jigs to jerking with heavy jerkbaits, we came away pretty stoked by its abilities... |
This beautifully marked specimen fell foul to the DUO Realis Jerkbait... |
The IMA Komomo that had done the trick... |
We then finished the day off with the ever reliable DUO Realis Jerkbait... |
It isn't a monster but they are fun all the same... |
