IN THE JUNGLE OF KALIMANTAN!

Tackle Source goes fresh, into the heartlands of the Bornean jungle. With our brand new FEED Jungle rods in hand, we felt confident nothing was uncatchable. And it was the case indeed.

Ready to set off. 3 flights and many hours on the road didn't deter the team...

First session produced the goods. This is what we were here for, the revered Red Mahseer...

One of our favourite lures for this type of fishing, the OSP Blitz Max delivered as expected...

The river wasn't at its optimum because of some unexpected rainfall, but it brought out foragers like this Catfish, which liked the Jackall Aska crankbait...

We had to negotiate many hours of riverine obstacles in order to find good water and it would eventually produce. Here is a nice Jungle Perch to get the FEED Jungle rod its workout...

The DUO Realis Crank M65 is deadly in these wild rivers...

There are a few bycatches to be encountered. Here this Jackall Aska finds one...

The Jackall Aska proved its worth throughout this trip and here it shines with a nice Red Mahseer tamed by the light FEED Jungle Spin rod...

The Jungle Perch in these parts are known to grow to big proportions. This is a large one but no where near to the trophies encountered. Nevertheless it gave the FEED Jungle BC rod a workout...

The Jackall Aska crank was in its element...

Another by catch we encountered with frequency is this delicious Mad Barb specie...

This one took a sexy OSP Blitz Max crank with reckless abandon...

In the evening we could enjoy the fruit of our labour. The Red Mahseer is highly revered in South East Asia as a gourmet specie. Over the campfire it was the most beautiful way of enjoying this delicacy. It didn't disappoint...

Next morning we were casting bright and early. From the rapids comes this personal best Jungle Perch for an excited angler. Even with the powerful FEED Jungle spin stick it took some coaxing...

The Jackall Aska crank does it again...

Poppers can be very effective in these wild rivers. Here the FEED BELL15 finds an undersized customer...

Then it was back to power-packed Jungle Perch on equally powerful rods. Made for great fun!

The OSP Blitz Max proves its worth...

With the unfavourable water conditions, we had to work hard for our fish. This Red Mahseer was the best of the trip and it didn't disappoint. It was a short but intense tug of war with the strong Jungle outfit...

Its the Jackall Aska again!

The Jackall Aska cements its status as the go-to lure as another beautiful Red Mahseer and another personal best. The FEED Jungle spin stick shone in the fight...

A mighty take and an explosive run revealed another personal best fish for this happy angler. Turns out to be a beaut Jungle Perch, and a worthy adversary for the strong FEED Jungle BC rod...

No guess for the lure which made the difference. The Jackall Aska continues to collect accolades...

From the same snag came a slightly smaller specimen next, with the OSP Blitz Max at work...

This next capture was extremely special. The small FEED Lures BELL8 popper was smashed explosively on the surface by this beaut Jungle Perch...

It is an awesome fish on the light popper which casts a mile and splashes mad. The lightest FEED Jungle spin stick had its work cut out...

There wa a good balance between Jungle Perch and Red Mahseer in this river system. And it was impossible to guess what fish we would encounter next. The constant is to be always ready with our strong outfits to face any fish. This Mahseer came to the boat in quick time courtesy of the Jungle rod...

The OSP Blitz Max gets the credit...

Then its back to whipping the little popper and a rare Red Mahseer topwater capture is the outcome...

The lithe BELL8 is dynamite in these rivers...

Another surprise capture is a nice Striped Mad Barb which smashed the topwater offering...

The FEED BELL8 does it again...

Our home for the trip. Where we ate, slept, bantered and laughed...

Last day would kick off with the biggest Mad Barb we'd seen, despite the less than favourable water conditions...

It fell for an IMA Pinjack cast at a deep pool...

We struggled to find fish in the deteriorating water but hit the jackpot at a set of rapids when the FEED Jungle spin stick lit up...

The beautiful Jungle Perch smashed the OSP Blitz which ran true in the turbulent water...

The next fish from the same pool was smaller but a special one nonetheless...

The OSP Blitz continues to shine...

Turned out to be a shortened trip curtailed by the water which had turned bad following some overnight rain upstream. This nice Jungle Perch would be the last of the session...

And its the OSP Blitz Max which does the damage once again...
