It had been a mad adventure thus far, from the launching of the new boat to sussing out the drops and dips of this new area, to finding some pretty decent fish as a result. But this was a new day, and new doors were waiting to be opened...
We had much optimism, buoyed by the results thus far. Rods of choice were from the Evergreen and Major Craft stables... |
First drop with the FEED FLINT jig found a small Ruby Snapper which was mangled by a larger fish on its way up... |
From the same school we pluck a nicer Ruby with the SFC Arc jig... |
The action which followed was slow but things lit up once again with this tough customer. GTs can always be counted to go hard regardless the gear. This one was no different... |
It had greedily inhaled the FEED FALL jig... |
Ease of use and unique power has made the Major Craft x Tackle Source collaboration Slow Draw rod a fave for many anglers... |
The FEED FLINT finds a feisty Yellowtail barracuda... |
And next hook up would be a beautiful Long Nosed Emperor on the FEED FALL jig... |
It was the afternoon and after a few unsuccessful spots we finally had a glimmer of hope restored by this huge Ruby Snapper which went as well as it looked on the light Slow Draw 3SP rod... |
The bigger profile FEED FLINT 400g version proved that size mattered... |
Slowly the bite heated up and low and behold, we had a beautiful Pearl Perch in the boat courtesy of the FEED FLINT again... |
And when there is one, our prayers for more were answered. The FLINT jig finds another... |
As did the SFC Cranky with this one... |
The Rubies were definitely hanging around to terrorise the FEED FLINT jigs too... |
And they were thick. Drop a FEED FLINT and a reward wasn't far off... |
How about a Scorpionfish from the deep? |
Ruby on the FEED FLINT... |
Not one but two... |
And the fish were lining up to nail the FLINT jigs... |
It was a fish a drop on the FEED FLINT, literally.... |
Of course other gun jigs like the SFC Cranky couldn't be ignored as well... |
Can't help but be amazed by how beautiful the Pearl Perch is. Strawberry coloured FLINT is hard to pass on... |
As is a Nemo coloured FLINT. Another Ruby says hi... |
Meanwhile its hard to get pass the feisty Scorpionfish that inhabit the seabed. As they love the FLINTs just as much... |
Amongst the madness of the hot bite this funky FLINT manages to escape the red brigade and is found by this awesome Dogtooth Tuna which gave he Slow Draw rod a good workout... |
Again its the bigger 400g FEED FLINT which finds another double digit fish... |
Meanwhile the Ruby onslaught continues with the FEED FLINT jigs... |
They are truly coming on in the numbers... |
With the odd obligatory Pearl Perch thrown in the mix. The FEED FLINT shines in the moment... |
More red action with the SFC Cranky... |
And grey action with the FEED FLINT... |
Red or grey, it was inconsequential as again we had to leave the fish hot on the bite for the long ride home. What a day! |
