SLOW PITCH JIGGING IN THE MALDIVES! Part One

Just like our micro jig experience shared earlier, this trip to the Maldives was all about jigging. Slow pitch jigging in particular. It was the perfect opportunity to put some new gear to test and introduce the local denizens to some new shiny metal...

Our boat for the trip...

The Major Craft Slow Draw has been a successful collaboration between Tackle Source and the Major Craft company. And the range is constantly expanding...

The FALL jig is an awesome offering from FEED Lures and we caught plenty on this trip on them...

Green Jobfish on the Slow Draw to get things rolling...

With the slow jigs the bites came fast. The Slow Draw and FEED FALL combo strikes again...

The Kanji Free Flip jig scores a GT...

And the FEED FALL jig finds an Amberjack...

Its a double header of Amberjack to be specific...

The Rockcods seem to love the Kanji Free Flip jig...

Major Craft Slow Draw rod at work, happy angler for days...

Working the Kanji Free Flip jig off the bottom finds the groupers easily...

In the upper columns the Mack Tuna is a common encounter...

The SFC Cranky gets this one nailed...

While the sexy orange SFC Arc jig gets hit at the bottom...

The species list expands as this Jobfish this the deck courtesy of the SFC Spunky jig...

And a Green Jobbie gets over greedy with the Kanji Free Flip...

A tough battle ends with an amazing looking Long Nose Emperor on the bogagrip...

It fell for the FEED FALL jig...

Another FEED FALL jig victim...

Slowly worked through the schools, slow pitch jigs like this Kanji Free Slow prove hard to ignore...

A fat Amberjack hits the deck...

We pluck a couple more from the school courtesy of the SFC Abyss jig. A nice duo on one jig with the Slow Draw rod...

We then decide to terrorize the local Grouper population, the FEED FALL gets one first...

The Kanji Free Slow jig gets number two...

And its another on the Kanji Free Slow jig...

Then another on the FEED FALL jig...

From the shallower reefs come a beautiful Coronation Trout on the Kanji Free Slow...

But we prefer the deeper drops because that's where the powerful Amberjack live...

The FEED FALL jig proves fatal...

In sexy black, the high contrast FEED FALL jig gets things done...

And its an onslaught as another nice deep dweller comes aboard...

The beautiful black FEED FALL jig is gold...

Usually a common Maldivian catch, this is our first Black Jack. It took an SFC Arc worked with the Evergreen Poseidon High Pitch Jerker...

Next drop and its an awesome looking Yellowfin Grouper. It wasn't shy about hitting the FEED FALL jig...

Then a lonesome Amberjack finds the Kanji Free Slow jig...

Red on red. Perfectly matched are the Slow Draw rod and this Tomato Cod which fell for the Jackall Anchovy Metal jig...

What an awesome looking fish. This Red Lipped Emperor was no match for the strong Evergreen Poseidon High Pitch Jerker rod though...

The Kanji Free Flip jig got it fooled...

A double strike with Cods on the jackal Anchovy Metal and FEED FALL jigs respectively...

We seem to have found another Amberjack school. The SFC Arc gets the first to the boat...

But the Sharks seemed to have found them too...

More to come in Part Two.
