BLOOD AND TEETH!

7 months is a long wait, and that was how long a bunch of keen anglers had to endure before they could step foot once again on the GT Chaser. Such is the popularity of this vessel that trips are planned a year in advance. The weather though, was not in our favour this time around but the great food and company aboard made up for it and everyone enjoyed themselves. Here are some photos from the trip...

For the first timers aboard the GT Chaser it was monumental..

Gear was loaded in haste. There were alot of new tackle to put to good use...

The safety formality of filling up the forms for the port authority was done before setting off...

Sunscreen is your best friend when exposed to the elements...

Geared up in no time...

The rod holders were filled to the brim...

First customer was an Estuary Cod which took a liking to the now-defunct Anglers Republic Hexer jig. On the light Poseidon Spin Jerker Lite rod it was great fun...

Great elation was dampened when the tough fight on the Poseidon Slow Jerker turned out to be a Reef Shark...

Getting the hook and Evergreen Caprice jig out was a job best left to the Captain...

New Shout! Strobe jig accounts for this Snapper from the reef...

Small Mack Tuna gave a good account on the Majorcraft Alexander outfit...

Like the fish before, this GT was fooled by the Tacko jig...

A better GT of about 8kgs took a Nature Boys Swimbird jig worked with the Poseidon Spin Jerker...

A close up of the lead-free alloy jig...

Evergreen Poseidon Spin Jerker used to good effect...

Meanwhile at the other end of the boat the Slow Jerker was providing this angler maximum thrills...

A fish rare to these parts, a nice 15kg Cobia to put a smile on this first timer...

An all Evergreen combo which includes the Javelin Jet jig was this GTs downfall...

Poseidon Spin Jerker proving too mighty...

A decent Shark which took an IMA Ro jig...

More smiles as another Poseidon bore the grunt...

Yet another big Shark, nasty to try and land...

So they were released boatside by the experienced Captain...

The old-faithful IMA Ro gets hit by another GT, adding to its already battle-scarred body...

We ran into a pack of GTs and they were similar in size...

Nature Boys Swimrider Short accounts for one...

A tasty Cod from the deep on the Mangrove Studio Wipeout jig...

We tried casting but after to consecutive Queenies on the FCL Labo SPP Slim the bite shut down...

Light jigs like this IMA Gun Peki provided good fun in between the heavy stuff...

The prized Golden Snapper decided at last to show up. The new Shout! Flash jig doing well to secure this catch...

Decent GT on a Shout! Width jig and Poseidon Spin Jerker rod...

More light tackle action with this Wrasse on the DUO Ikkako...

And a nice Queenfish on the IMA Gun Peki worked succintly with the Evergreen Temujin 'Spider' rod...

A school of feisty Hardtail Scad were not afraid to hit larger jigs like this IMA Ro...

Mixed in were some juvenile GTS which was great fun on the Spin Jerker Lites which worked the IMA Gun Pekis perfectly...

IMA Ros were a consistent producer in the shallow to mid waters...

This Golden Snapper fell to the ultralight combo of a Bassday Bungy Metall II jig and Temujin 'Spider' ultralight rod...

Action was fast and furious for an hour or so...

IMA Ros were the weapon of choice...

Some GTs were pretty decent and gave a good work out in high seas and light gear like the Spin Jerker Lites...

Ultralight 'Spider' outfit and FCL Labo micro CS jig...

A bigger Golden Snapper was undoubtedly the best way to end a rather sub-par trip...

IMA Ro and Spin Jerker Lite meant the fish fought valiantly...

Another Hardtail Scad on the IMA Gun Peki...

Bigger Gun Pekis were gulped down by the bigger predators in the pack like this nice GT. That last morning session pretty much saved the trip from being a disappointment. None the less, we will be back soon!
