WE LOVE DUO VIBES!

The most versatile lure. A bold statement but it holds true.

The humble lipless crank bait, or more often just called the vibe (short for vibration lure), can be fished a myriad of ways. Sunk to the desired depth, it can work at any level of the water column. Most come with fish-calling rattles, some are solid material for extra weight, for us they all work when used correctly. Here's a solid day out putting DUO vibes to good use...

No fish is too small! Here's a little Whiting on the DUO Realis Vibration, a trophy of sorts!

Hopped along the bottom, the heavy weighted DUO Bay-Ruf vibe is crazy deadly. This one got sucked in...

A very handsome Jewfish or Mulloway, from the river...

The Bay-Ruf worked with the Evergreen Kaleido 'Spin Cobra Q7' stick did the trick...

A little surprise as we pulled in this little Snapper in the river...

Victim of the DUO Realis Vibration...

We hit paydirt as the DUO Bay-Ruf is inhaled again by a massive gob...

An awesome Threadfin Salmon hits the deck after a long fight against the Evergreen Light Calvary spin rod...

As usual, the DUO Bay-Ruf is magic!

We wrap the evening with an aggro Bream which liked the DUO Bay-Ruf too. What an awesome day!

MIDNITE ACTION!

Ready for some big cats? we were! Here's some action from the dead of the night...

Large Asian Redtail Catfish hauled in by the strong Major Craft Bone spin rod...

It was victim of the Jackall TN vibe, a hard lure to pass up when fishing deep...

Didn't take long to find another hungry monster cat...

This time the IMA Barbarossa 120 worked its wonders...

Hardly a small fish under the cover of darkness. This one had the Jackall Tranpo spin rod working overtime...

The DUO Maniac hopped on the bottom did the trick...

The string of giants continued with yet another nice Asian Redtail...

We absolutely love the IMA Flechette and this one scores like it always does...

The Jackall Tranpo two piece rod is now a firm favourite for this kind of work. The strength it offers down low is to be seen...

This is the APIA Punch Line, a lipless sinking lure which has a great flutter which found a hungry Cat...

Then its another fat one to keep us working...

The DUO Beach Walker Axcion is another regular performer...

A fat Amazonian Redtail Cat gave the Bone spin rod a run for its money but it was tamed eventually...

The IMA Spin Gulf works as well in the dark as it does in the day...

Then its back to the Asian Redtails. They go hard at this size...

The IMA Flechette does it again...

UNVEILING THE MAJOR CRAFT SLOW DRAW SLOW PITCH JIG ROD!

Almost a year in design and testing has culminated in the release of the new SLOW DRAW series of slow pitch jigging rods, the result of a collaborative effort between Major Craft and Tackle Source.

Needless to say we are mighty excited to see the end product. And it looks great. We worked hard to ensure the finish and minor details were perfect. Even the rod case it comes in is of a greater quality. This rod rocks!

As you read this, the SLOW DRAW will be available in most good fishing tackle stores!

We've had a blast with the creating of this new series, almost just as much fun as we've had testing and fishing prototypes. Here's a link to an earlier post which featured an early prototype in action.

LET'S NOT FORGET ABOUT THE JIGGING!

While we were out giving the new NP-JACK offshore rod by Major Craft a work out, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to drop a few jigs as well. Here's what we caught...

Rough seas made it tough. Here's a first customer on the FEED Lures FLIP jig, a cute little Emperor...

Going large with this IMA Ro jig certainly got the attention of this nice Coral Trout...

Catch of the day went to this wicked African pompano which gave the Major Craft Giant Killing Light Jig rod a run for its money!

It took the Major Craft Jigpara Semi Long jig...

We wrapped the day with many misses but here's one which stuck. A juvenile African Pompano in all its long-finned glory. It fell for the Major Craft Jigpara Short jig...

OFFSHORE CASTING WITH THE MAJOR CRAFT NP-JACK!

If you haven't noticed, Major Craft has quietly launched a funky new flagship saltwater range of rods: the NP-JACK. Of the series the latest line consists of some sick new Offshore Casting rods. Obviously we were over-excited and hit the water in no time with new gear in hand!

For optimum levels of fun we chose the NJC-76ML - a PE 1.5-3 rated rod that will handle lures up to 60g. Perfect for our application...

We love our saltwater casting for pelagic speedsters using the ubiquitous Pintail minnows by renown manufacturer Jackson. We didn't wait long to have the NP-JACK loaded up...

After a long fight we found it to be a pesky Shark!

It had the Jackson Pintail Tune firmly in its jaws...

Tamed by the NP-JACK. We found the rod with a faster taper from previous iterations of the offshore casting rod and it had greater butt power for more effective lifting...

Few casts later we tangle with a GT which gave the rod a good run for its money...

The Jackson Pintail Tune is supreme in these applications. It has spawned many cheap copies but alas there can only be One...

To prove its worthiness the Pintail scores a beaut Coral Trout from a shallow reef. We needed all the NP-JACK could muster to wrench this fish from the treacherous reef...

A strong fat fish, and a worthy opponent. But the Jackson Pintail Tune had it nailed...

After a few missed attempts and bite offs we finally had a Spanish Mackeral in the boat. This is the fish that defines the whole offshore high speed spinning scene...

It is the fish that has kept fishermen flocking back for more, dazzled by its speed, tenacity and sheer aggression when pelting a quick retrieved lure. That lure in question is no doubt the Jackson Pintail Tune. Gear up, for the season is in full swing!
