SCOURING THE CITY FLATS!

More action Downunder, this time in the urban setting under the glorious sunshine. Chasing the typical estuarine species on ultralight gear is so much more than just the size of the catch. We had fun with every single fish hooked, each fight ultra intense on the gear used...

Off the road and into a boat, it couldn't be easier...

Soft plastics on first, and hopped along a visible weedbed in the shallows hoping for a Flathead. But a Bream got to the Jackall Waver Shrimp first...

Couple more casts was all it took to find the intended quarry, and the ultra light Major Craft MS-X Limited spin rod was loaded up by this nice Lizard...

It took the Jackall Waver Shrimp like the Bream before it...

This weedbed seemed to be crawling with them. The Jackall Waver Shrimp finds another Flathead...

Shallow minnows cranked over the said beds worked just as well...

The IMA Sasuke in little SF-75 size scores...

Then we went even smaller with the tiny DUO Tetraworks Toto shallow runner and got this Bream...

The Toto was irresistible to an ambushing Flathead as well...

The fish in all its glory...

It was almost a fish every three casts with the DUO Toto...

The MS-X Limited by Major Craft in UL guise was magic to use...

Meanwhile the shallow IMA Sasuke continues to score...

Weed bed edges and little drop-offs often produced and the fishing was as much fun as we could have...

The Flatties seemed to love the little DUO Toto, and it was hardly surprising...

One of the better fish for the day...

There was no end to the Flathead, the sheer abundance was welcome change to the usual hard fishing we were used to...

With the odd Bream thrown in, there was nothing more we could ask for. The DUO Toto continued to score...

The Flathead on the run out tide were snapping at lures like they were on a buffet line...

We had to leave the fish biting, and even picked up this nice Bream before calling it quits. Again it was a little DUO Toto which nailed it. What an awesome day!

THE MYSTICAL JEW!

The elusive Jewfish has always been on the to-catch list. Much has been written about the mysticism of this fish and the allure of hooking one is too great to ignore. So here we are, Downunder, and armed to the teeth with DUO lipless vibes, in search of the elusive quarry that is the Jew...

First things first, we have to get past the GTs which also call this home. The IMA Gun Peki scores one for the books...
We also have to contend with Bream, which aren't shy about hitting larger lures like this DUO Realis Vibe...

As the sun sets and a long day out prospecting, we finally hit paydirt as the Jackall Nero baitcast rod is bent over and up pops a healthy Jewfish. At last!

We had spent a fair part of the day hopping vibes off the bottom. Patience finally pays off, and kudos to the loud and frantic DUO Realis Vibe which produced...

As we regrouped after some shots, a second drift found a smaller Jew on the same DUO Realis Vibe G-fix. Smaller but just as satisfying...

The sun set is spectacular but there is no time to take it in as the bite is red hot. The next rod is bent over and the Evergreen Light Cavalry spin stick bears the grunt of another nice Jew...

It is the DUO Realis Vibe G-Fix which accounts for yet another as the other lures are ignored...

It is completely dark as the action continues. A very healthy specimen is up next after a short tussle...

No guesses for which lure produces. There can only be one - the DUO Realis Vibe G-Fix!

Just maybe a Jew would take the DUO Hacker vibe but nope, the next take ends in a small Bream. And that brings the curtains down on a fantastic evening Jew session. All smiles...

SALT POND STORIES!

Short trip with visitors to the local saltwater playground saw many smiles...

Major Craft Corzza Baitcast rod used to good effect with a nice Grouper to start the day...

Matched with the DUO Spearhead Ryuki it was dynamite...

Meanwhile on the spinning front the Major Craft Volkey rod is a star...

The Jackall Baby Giron scores with its super life-like action...

Another Grouper hits the deck...

And its the DUO Spearhead Ryuki which scores...

On the light Volkey spin rod every fight is to savour...

The Jackall I-Prop worked slow did the trick...

The Red Drum is always welcomed. They go hard and fast...

And they love DUO Spearhead Ryukis too...

Its a Grouper galore..

Its the Tiemco Groggy Minnow, an un orthodox lipless lure, which makes an impression...

The hauling doesn't end with the Major Craft Volkey...

Another fat Grouper...

The Tiemco Groggy scores again...

And the procession doesn't end...

The IMA Survivor 70 is the chosen lure this time...

Going natural with the IMA Scarecrow swimbait we get a surprise from this Scat...

Then we get back to business with another Grouper...

The little Scarecrow 75 is a sharp performer especially in slow situations...

It goes on to score another...

To seal the session. Thank you Scarecrow...
