GOING LIGHT FOR THE FIGHT!

Been downsizing to ultralight set-ups for maximum fun at the local saltwater pond. The new Major Craft MS-X Limited rod is an absolute joy to use and understandably the hit rates have increased many-fold. Landing all of them are a different matter...

The Zipbaits Raphael lipless pencil is one of the ultralight stars...

GTs go especially hard on the ultralight MS-X limited...

The local Barramundi population prefer smaller lures...

And its hard to go past the DUO Spearhead Ryuki...

Another exciting fight results in a second GT...

The DUO Toto snags this one...

Meanwhile a fat Grouper is fooled by the minuscule spybait that is the DUO Perakko...

A slender Cobia to mix things up...

It took an IMA Ikuri crank...

More Grouper action...

Courtesy of the IMA Ikuri again...

Groupers prove to be on the bite, they aren't the easiest fish to land on light gear though...

The IMA Koume vibe is an excellent tool for this kind of work...

Big and fat is how we like them...

Small lures like the DUO Yurameki don't get ignored either...

Another little Cobia to spice things up...

Its the Bassday Sugar Minnow Lipless which fools this one...

The Groupers continue to oblige...

This one falls for a DUO Realis Vibe...

On the ultralight MS-X Limited these things are more than a handful...

IMA Koume in a limited colour does it...

Always welcome if the acrobatic Barramundi...

And its the IMA Koume again...

Evergreen Tactics spin rod in action. One of the best one-handed spin sticks out there...

Its a fat Grouper to end the day...

And its the IMA Koume which doesn't disappoint again...

IN THE STILL OF THE NIGHT!

Fishermen don't stop after the sun sets. In fact they operate till the sun rises. We are blessed with some pretty decent saltwater fishing along the coastline and here's just some of the fish you'll encounter...

IMA Hound Sonic 80S is a shallow runner that's making its mark...

Here it fools a very decent Flathead...

The Barracuda is one of the larger predators we encounter on our shores. This small Yellowtail took a white DUO Realis Vibe...

Big lures don't always mean big fish. This IMA Sasuke 140 is attacked by a very territorial Glassfish...

Groupers can be classified as one of the most common encounters in our waters. This one was tamed in tight confines by the strong Major Craft MS-X baitcast rod...

It took a DUO Realis Jerkbait, one of the best shallow runners we know...

GTs VERSUS THE FEED LURES SPEAR PENCIL!

Earlier we released a video featuring some awesome shallow water light popping action using the magnificent Major Craft Bone Rod. Here are the still pictures of the highlights from the session, featuring the SPEAR skipping pencil by FEED Lures which did the most damage...

On the heavy spin BONE rod matched to a Shimano 5000 sized reel GTs of this size already represent a formidable opponent and we sure lost a few in the extremely shallow water...

The littlest of the SPEAR range, the 30g is FEED Lures answer for heavy Snakehead and light saltwater applications...

The SPEAR also comes in a special EX version with fixed hook points instead of the belly swivel. This version also features special paintwork that so far has been a hit with lure collectors. Here it finds a Bluefin Trevally before being lost to a larger fish...

After a thrilling fight a big GT slides into view, its the most magical moment...

Its a notable capture on the light outfit in treacherous water, and a lucky one at that. It is photographed, swam and released to fight another day...

But not before one last shot of the SPEAR30 with a picture perfect hook up...

If you missed the video, here it is again...

A MYRIAD OF SPECIES FROM THE POND!

Short sesh at the local pond for some ultralight tackle action, never really disappoints!

First catch is a Barramundi...

The DUO Realis Shad 59MR makes an acquaintance...

Had a new toy the the shape of the new Major Craft MS-X Limited ultralight spin rod. It worked awesomely with hefty fish like this Grouper...

The littlest member of the Survivor series by IMA, the 50 scores...

Next up another Barramundi which when hard on the ultralight MS-X Limited rod...

The unique Jackson Dart Magic lure worked by sharp twitches ensured the Barramundi couldn't ignore it...

And here's the Major Craft MS-X Limited in action...

Fat Grouper gets landed...

IMA Survivor 50 strikes again...

With the light outfit, micro lures were a possibility, and the catch rate soared...

This Barramundi went crazy over the DUO Tetraworks Ebikko shrimp imitation...

A welcome change of species, as a Fingermark Bream gets nailed...

It took an IMA Survivor 50 like few others before itself...

A double hook up of Barramundis. On the Major Craft Bone spin and MS-X Limited spin rods respectively...

One on an IMA Scarecrow jointed swimbait...

And another on the Jackall Giron swimbait...

Major Craft MS-X Limited is bent to the max again...

Its a frisky Grouper...

The DUO Realis Vibe is the culprit...

A larger one comes up next after a strong fight on the ultralight outfit...

The DUO Realis Vibe does it again...

Then its a Barramundi next...

The DUO Realis Vibe yet again...

The Bone rod easily tames a fat Grouper...

The lipless IMA Trip is its downfall...

As night fell another Fingermark Bream is caught...

It the sinking DUO Spearhead Ryuki that scores!
