HIGH SEAS + DEEP DROPS! Part Two

This is the second part of the latest Maldives trip. The fishing was sub-par for reasons unknown but it started to pick up in the later part of the trip...

Slow pitching the depths with a Xesta Slow Emotion Flap jig found this taker...

Its a Grey Banded Cod, and a hefty one too. On the new Major Craft NP Jack Slow Pitch rod it gave an awesome fight...

A Tomato Cod from the depths on a Shout! Lance jig...

The Lance by Shout! strikes again with this nice Deep Sea Bream...

The Major Craft NP Jack is bent double yet again, and its a long fight from deep...

Its the Shout! Cradle jig with two fishes from four hooks...

An even bigger Grey Banded Cod hits the deck. Its a trophy!

One more shot with the behemoth for posterity...

Meanwhile from slightly shallower waters comes a Coronation Trout which took a Shout! Shab Shab jig...

The new FCL Labo purple Stickbait Special rod is paired with the FEED Lures SLASH130 and it scores this GT...

The GTs start to cooperate, as another comes aboard...

This one courtesy of the FCL Labo CSP stickbait...

Didn't take too long to find yet another...

The CSP by FCL Labo shows its mettle...

This GT preferred a popper to the stickbaits...

Its the FEED Lures PIN100 which scores...

A nice Grouper from the deep is hooked by the lady on a Shout! Shab Shab jig...

Coronation Trout are always welcome onboard and make good tucker. This one fell for a Fisherman Andaman jig...

On this particular morning the stars align and the GT bite is red hot...

The FEED PIN popper continues where it left of the day before...

With two GTs in succession!

A better than average specimen makes an angler's day...

Its hard to go past the FCL Labo CSP stickbait for the Maldives...

And where poppers are concerned the FEED PIN popper is perfect...

Sun's up, wind's died, fish on the chew, can't ask for more...

The FCL CSP stickbait scores yet another...

The FCL Labo CSP doesn't stop short as it accounts for another good fish...

A quick stop at a jigging spot finds a small Yellowfin Tuna on the Fisherman Andaman jig and Evergreen Poseidon Spin Jerker rod combo...

Then its back to casting and the GTs continue to oblige...

As always the FCL CSP stickbait never fails to connect...

Skipping the shallows with the FEED Lures SPEAR120 pencil usually turns up a hungry GT or two...

As we settle for the night a nice Tomato Cod pounces on the ultralight IMA Gun Peki jig and gave a tough fight on the Major Craft Go-Emotion Micro Jig Special...

The next morning we find more topwater action in our favour with our trusty FCL Labo rods...

This GT liked the bright FEED PIN135 popper...

The beauty fighting the beast. With the supple Major Craft Crostage popping stick the fight is in her favour...

Its a nice GT indeed...

Sunset and its back to the ultralight stuff when the boat comes to anchor. First fish is a feisty Mack Tuna which feel for an IMA Gun Peki fished on the Major Craft Go-Emotion Micro Jig Special rod...

Emperors are one of the hardest fighters on the reefs pound for pound...

The IMA Gun Peki is this one's downfall...

The IMA Gun Peki continues to shine with a pretty Paddletail Snapper...

Even an Octopus falls for the IMA Gun Peki jig...

Its a big one and an awesome catch!

Bright and early its jigging time, and a Black Jack comes aboard with the Shout! Stay jig pinned...

We then encounter some Amberjacks. This first one went for a Bassday Bungy Wide jig...

Then a pair comes up with Fisherman Andamans in the mouth...

The slow pitch NP Jack outfit by Major Craft turns up a Rock Cod on the Xesta Flap jig...

The Shout! Width jig is the next to score a Rock Cod...

And the Xesta Flap jig gets another Rock Cod...

Working the Fisherman Andaman jig with more fervour, this Rosy Jobfish found it to its liking...

Here's a greedy Black Jack on a big FCL Labo SLZ slow jig...

More slow pitch work finds this Tomato Cod on the Shout! Lance jig...

While the Xesta Flap doesn't disappoint, with a nice Rock Cod. The Major Craft NP Jack Slow Pitch rod put to good use...

The Rosy Jobfish make their presence shown by sending up a representative which took a Shout! Shab Shab jig...

The Major Craft NP Jack gets a decent workout with the one on a Xesta Flap jig...

Then its the Fisherman Andaman's time to shine with another Rosy...

The Shout! Shab Shab jig scores yet another...

Not far off the bottom a fat Tomato Cod gets hook by the Xesta Flap jig...

A Grouper duo on the FCL SL jig and Fisherman Marado jig respectively...

A Rock Cod ends the fun morning of jigging when it took the FCL Labo SL jig...

Its then back to popping and we find a GT not long after...

The FEED Lures PIN popper scores...

An explosive strike and a brutal fight ends with a nice GT on the lap...

Its the FEED Lures SPEAR pencil worked with the FCL Labo EXT rod which ends in this capture...

The fishing is tough with a few hits and many missed strikes by uncommitted fish. We manage one last GT to end the trip...

The FEED Lures PIN popper gets the final fish aboard...
