DOWNSIZING DOWNUNDER!

Tackle Source travels downunder with ultralight rod in hand and tiny lures in bag in the hope for a slice of exotica. New species always intrigues and drives us as anglers and so the chance to chase some is always hard to turn down...

Blue sky, blue waters and white sand presents a pleasant day to hit the water...

The Major Craft Nextino Trout rod is a perfect partner to hit the flats with, chasing small fish with small lures. The excitement upon hook-up is amazing!

Turns out to be a Tarwhine, a close cousin of the Bream and a feisty little fighter...

It has a small mouth but it didn't stop it from pouncing on the yummy Jackall Mametai jig...

Next cast in the same direction and we pick off another nice one on the Jackall Mametai jig as well. In fact we hook yet another but it was released prematurely when it threw the hook...

Bathers and Black Swan essential in the all-authentic beach scene...

The next day we trek South in search of more flats action with lures...

The Major Craft Nextino Trout special spoils the anglers with all the right accoutrements...

Its a massive flats system which will provide endless hours of fun...

Yellow Eye Mullets aren't shy when faced with a life-like topwater pencil like the Jackall Chubby Pencil...

To prove the first was no fluke we get another...

And another on the Jackall Chubby Pencil...

The Whitings down these parts are of a decent size and they go hard on the ultralight outfit and are a joy to catch...

The Jackall Chubby Pencil proves to be the king of the flats today...

A tinier Whiting which isn't fazed by the little DUO Bivi and thought it food...

Herring are ever-present on these flats and are explosive little critters especially on topwater lures...

The DUO Poco Poco popper scores this one...

The Whitings get in on the action too...

And the DUO Poco Poco popper scores one...

A big Whiting dwarfed by bigger angler...

The Jackall Chubby Pencil scores another...

More saltwater pond action with some bruisers on lures...

The faithful Major Craft Corzza spin rod is an amazing tool for medium light lure work...

This fat Grouper took some beating...

The Jackall I-Shad Tail soft plastic turned a slow day around...

Another fat fish on the IMA Sea Mouse soft plastic hopped off the bottom...

The fish are getting big in this pond and go super hard on light gear...

This one was coaxed into taking an Evergreen C-4 Shrimp soft plastic...

Beautifully proportioned fish comes in...

Its the Jackall Waver Shrimp soft plastic this time...

Another Jackall soft plastic, the Dum Dum Hog scores this one...

Red Drums are pretty elusive and the right lures are needed to fool them...

And its the Zipbaits Rigge Dimly that works its magic...

With consecutive strikes...

The Dimly scores...

This fat Cod is finessed into submission by the Major Craft MS-X BFS baitcast rod...

The APIA Punch Line lipless lure was twitched slow...

Meanwhile another Cod falls prey...

Its the Jackall Cover Craw soft plastic this time around...

Then its a procession of small Barramundi fooled by the ultra effective DUO Spearhead Ryuki minnow...

Fished on the svelte Major Craft MS-X Bait Finesse Special...

In search of bottom huggers, we found this Golden Snapper on a Jackall Dragon Bug soft plastic...

No surprises that the next take on the soft plastic turns up yet another Grouper...

Its the Jackall Waver Shrimp soft plastic that does this one in...

Through out the day we worked the Major Craft Corzza spin rod hard against little brutes like this. It stood up well especially in tight confines when some butt power was needed...

This fat guy fell for snazzy Jackall Gillcra crankbait...

More bottom hits with the Jackall Sasuteki Craw and this nice Golden Snapper...

As darkness fell the bite continued and going small with the little DUO Bivi lipless vibe paid off with this nice GT on the ultralight Evergreen Kaleido Mach-1 spin rod...
