THE BLUE LAGOON!

We love our shore lure casting and it was hard to miss an opportunity to put some nice lures to good use with a trip with good mates with the same mindset. An early morning start saw a bombardment of lures and some nice fish hooked up straightaway...

We start small with a Blue Hind which got greedy and tried to eat the big APIA Gablin lure...

It was another case of big lure and small fish with this Spanish Flag going after the ever popular Jackall Dangan Squad Minnow...

The species list grows as the large IMA Sasuke 130 is nailed...

Not your common catch, this Tuskfish is most welcomed...

The Jackall Dangan Squad Minnow produces another Spanish Flag...

We can't seem to get past the small stuff. This little Emperor felt confident when he went after the large DUO Beach Walker Axcion lure...

Alas, a nice Coral Trout hits the deck, after a short tussle with the Evergreen Zephyr seabass shore rod...

The DUO Beach Walker 120MD is a firm favourite and here's why...

Next we encounter a very special fish as the DUO Deep Feat is taken hard and a long fight ensues with many tense moments...

Its a nice Golden Trevally, a rare catch from shore and on a hardbody lure in these parts. The Major Craft Skyroad seabass shore rod did well to tame it...

The DUO Deep Feat never ceases to amaze...

Then its the DUO Beach Walker 120MD scores again with another Coral Trout...

Lightning strikes twice in a day as another Golden Trevally is hooked and another exciting fight on the Major Craft Skyroad spin rod ensues...

This time a quick twitched IMA Sobat minnow did the trick...

The IMA Sobat in another colour nails this Spanish Flag just before we call it a day. And what a day it was!

MANGROVE DWELLERS!

Daybreaks are a special time, the switch from night to day has a special effect on fish. Predators take advantage of the changing conditions to pounce on prey. The buzz is in the air as baitfish scamper and distant boofs are heard but can't be seen. We start early before the light of dawn and cast into the darkness and the unknown...

Not three casts in and the ultralight outfit screams and we hear a big surface splash, it can only signal one fish. Before long we have it in the net safely, the mini DUO Toto Shad had found its mark...

On the ultralight Major Craft MS-X spin rod this mighty Barramundi is as good a trophy as they come...

More boofs and more blind casts finds another Barramundi, albeit a smaller one. The DUO MOAB 85 is one of the most deadly lures we know and no doubt it produced...

The sun slowly peaks over the horizon, and the bite comes on. Another Barramundi hits the deck after an exciting take and a short struggle with the ultralight MS-X rod...

Its the good old DUO Realis Shad which makes the kill...

As the tide empties eddies form and in one prime one we find a predator waiting to ambush. The explosive take at our feet reveals another nice Barramundi...

The IMA Sasuke SF-75 is the perfect Mullet impersonator...

Ambush predators don't get any more clichéd than the humble Cod...

This little guy reacted to a textbook cast next to a snag. The IMA Koume 40 did the damage...

Another nice snag and the IMA Koume 40 finds another mangrove dweller, the hard pulling Mangrove Jack. But this is just a juvenile and it was no match for the ultralight MS-X rod. The same can't be said if the fish was given a couple of years to grow. Like all the other fishes it was released to fight another day...

BASS AFTER BASS!

The humble Peacock Bass is again the feature of this report as we traverse the lush tropical forests in search of some exciting freshwater lure casting action. Here are a few we found...

Ultralight baitcast setup scores first with a nice Bass with the Major Craft MS-X bc rod...

The sinking DUO Spearhead Ryuki is always a winner and no different this time...

A beautifully marked fish taken on the ultralight spin Major Craft MS-X rod...

It couldn't resist an IMA Gun Peki mini jig cranked fast...

These days Giant Snakehead have become a bycatch when fishing these freshwater environs ironically...

This one took a DUO Terriff shallow runner...

On the ultralight MS-X spin rod this fish went hard and fast...

The little DUO Realis Vibration 52 was its downfall...

The Peacock Bass kept us entertained through the session...

The sinking DUO Spearhead Ryuki is always the favourite...

This time the DUO Spearhead Ryuki in the latest floating version also finds one...

While the good old sinking DUO Spearhead Ryuki keeps the fish coming...

Fish of the day is one from the deep when scouring with a trusty lipless vibe on the ultralight MS-X outfit...

Its the awesome SO-V Slim vibe from DUO that did the trick...

Next we experience some topwater action with some enthusiastic juveniles...

The FEED Lures BULB popper scores...

The fish come on almost every cast...

The FEED Lures BULB gets another...

The fun goes on for a good 15 casts, with many fish dropped and a few unfortunate ones getting their picture taken...

This time its the smallest FEED Lures BELL popper which scores...

Going small is the trick and the super sensitive Major Craft MS-X baitcast rod can handle the smallest lures with finesse...

The small DUO Toto minnow fools this one...

The accompanying fish seemed to have locked on to the specific bait size as another gets fooled...

Its the DUO Toto again...

As the day wears on the fish thin out and we work hard to find willing takers. This one on the UL MS-X spin rod draws the curtains on this fun session...

Its the good old DUO Spearhead Ryuki which produces again, in tough conditions...
