URBAN ESTUARINE CASTING!

Tackle Source goes Downunder once again, this time against the urban landscape of the wonderful Gold Coast we chase estuarine dwellers in an unorthodox environment. Accurate casting is required to place lures in and amongst the man-made structures and it makes for interesting an a fun day on the water...

We hit the water on first light, the cool breeze in our hair...

Didn't take long to suss the game out with a small greedy Stripey on the deep diving DUO Realis Shad...

Then its some anxious moments on the ultralight Major Craft Volkey outfit as this Estuary Cod is hooked in between pylons...

The DUO Realis Shad is in its element...

Next up we get into the local Bream population with the trust Major Craft Basspara rod in ultralight guise...

And a little help from an awesome lure, in the shape of the Zipbaits Tiny Khamsin...

The Basspara/Khamsin combo would make many Bream killings like this...

As the sun rose the casts had to be more accurate tight in structure as the fish would hold deeper within...

A welcome bycatch in these systems is the Mangrove Jack. They go hard on the ultralight gear indeed...

This one fell for a small Jackall Soul Shad...

Pitching the lightly weighted Jackall Waver Shrimp soft plastic vertically against cover snagged this little Bream...

The ambush predators like this Estuary Cod will never refuse a well placed lure, especially if its an ultra-lifelike Zipbaits Khamsin...

Another healthy Bream falls prey...

To the Zipbaits Khamsin slowly worked against the floating moorings...

This one had been attacked at a younger stage of its life but it recovered to grow into a lure-belter...

A bruiser Mangrove Jack this one is. It took some beating to land on the Bream gear...

The little Zipbaits Khamsin does it again...

Meanwhile this IMA Sukari Deep minnow was terrorising a small school Bream...

The species list just got longer with the addition of this nice Dusky Flathead...

It took a liking to the Jackall Diving Chubby crankbait...

Big old Bream are one of the smartest fish to try and fool, but with the Zipbaits Khamsin they kept getting pinned...

The Khamsin takes another hostage...

This one had its curiosity piqued by the little IMA Tetra Tri crankbait...

Here's another fat Bream that fell victim...

And the Zipbaits Khamsin loses more paint...

Off a slight drop off the bank this DUO Realis Shad was ambushed by this little Flathead...

While the Khamsin scores another nice Bream...

And another...

And another...

We took an early break to the day's fishing, happy with the scorecard. It was a hot session indeed!
