MIDNIGHT BASSING!

The native Australian Bass gets under your skin. A tough code to crack, coupled with an explosive nature make them a thoroughly enjoyable species to chase. Albeit rather frustrating at times. Its a species you could dedicate a lot of time into chasing, for very little rewards. But when it all comes together it can be rather special, especially when a good one decides to greet you...

The keys to successful Bass fishing on topwater plugs are really early mornings, or really late nights, whichever way you look at it. We had to be on the water in the wee hours and in the cold for a shot. This first customer on the IMA Pugachev's Cobra 60 pencil made it all worthwhile...

Little did we know the next fish would be a trophy sized stonker. It took the topwater popper and ran strong. Some eager moments later the 50cm+ fish was on the bank...

No prizes for guessing the popper of choice for this type of work. Already well proven with many topwater scores, the handmade wood FEED Lures BULB8 needs little introduction...

When the topwater bite shuts down its time to turn to other methods to fool the already wary fish. A few lure changes later we break the code with this nice Bass. On the ultra light Major Craft Volkey spin stick it was also a handful like the one before it...

Going soft with the Jackall Mask Gene vibe did the trick...

Vibes were cracking the code, so no surprises for the next Bass to nail the ever popular Jackall TN50 vibe. When fishless sessions can be the norm, scoring a few good fish certainly can put a smile on the face...
