OF WHISKERS AND TEETH

Had a good friend come in for a couple of days to sample the local scene, so headed down to a place the guys and I have been visiting to cure the proverbial itch and to have a bit of fun. This lake is well stocked with various foreign and indigenous species, and apart from the mainly herbivorous ones there are some predators in there that are keen candidates for lure anglers.

Didn't take too long to hook up. Majorcraft Volkey medium action spin rod is the perfect kind of rod for this kind of casting...

Fantastic catch, a rare Sultan Fish to start the day...

It took a well placed Jackall Bros Knuckle grub...

Next we targeted the Asian Red Tail Catfish, great fighters on the light gear. This one took a Knuckle 3.5" soft plastic too...

The Zipbaits Khamsin is a proven killer in this lake and it accounted for another Redtail Cat...

Redtails grow to good sizes and fight hard. On the new Majorcraft KG Lights Aji rod, they went like freight trains...

Zipbaits Khamsin in another colour strikes again...

More Redtails as arms begin to ache...

The popular lure is proving its worth...

This Giant Snakehead or Toman took a Jackall Bros Squad Shad, another popular lure...

Another big Red Tail Cat...

Jackall Bros Squad Shad worked on them too...

Happy angler - not so happy fish...

Squad Shad again...

Hooked up simultaneously, Majorcraft Volkey and its lighter brother, the KG Lights...

One took an IMA Sasuke Shad...

And another, the IMA Trip 85...

The fish were lining up for our lures...

IMA Trip 85 produced another...

And so did the Sasuke Shad 75...

Megabass Griffon 6cc worked too...

Another good fish...

Back to the Squad Shad and it produced on cue...

Fat and healthy fighter...

This Common Snakehead bit off more than it could chew with this Squad Shad...

IMA Bta Moge and a mean face...

A nice Giant Snakehead, great fun on the light 4lb gear...

The day ended with a Common Snakehead on IMA Bta, what a great session!
