MALDIVES END 2013 BY DAY! Part Two

Following off where we last left off with the first part of our latest Maldivian adventure as seen here:

We continue with the rough and tough journey complete with rough seas and unfavourable winds that would prove fishing tough. Never the less, we cast hard and drop jigs to the depths and get just rewards with a few good fish...

For topwater action its hard to look past the FCL Labo range of offerings for fishability and value for money...

The FCL Labo EXT 81MH rod is another tool we use on all Maldivian adventures and more. Most guys who fish with us think the same...

The GTs weren't overly huge on this trip but they were a handful and great fun!

The FCL Labo Ebipop always produces...

And so does its stablemate - the FCL CSP stickbait, with this GT...

Another nicer Gee falls prey to another FCL CSP variation. This is a good fish...

The small CSP HS series stickbaits are superb performers for this type of work. In fact, they were specifically made for our Maldivian escapades...

With its super life-like rendition of a distressed baitfish, fish like this Coral Trout aren't afraid to take a swipe despite it being much bigger than its usual prey size...

The GTs keep piling up on this day. The action was what we'd been pinning for all trip long...

The SPP Tuna is another stunner of a lure by FCL Labo for these waters, followers will recognise it from the numerous captures from previous posts...

The popping action never seems to end and the bite is red hot. Another beaut GT hits the deck...

The Melon-Ya Spirits stickbait produces great flash with its flat sides, as illustrated by this Gee its hard to resist...

A fat Red Bass is next to fall victim...

The Melon-Ya Spirits hits again...

This is a long GT, tough as nails despite the tackle used. A great capture and a nice GT to boot!

The large FCL Labo CSP pencil is dwarfed by this nice specimen...

The species list is a colourful one even on topwater lures. Another rare Coral Trout makes an uninvited appearance...

It snaffled a CSP HS sinking stickbait that swam past its lair...

As does another bulky Red Bass, these fish are mean. Just check out those fangs...

FCL Labo CSP HS, need we say more?

Can't forget the GTs despite the smorgasbord of species coming aboard...

The FCL Labo SPP Tuna finds another customer...

When the arms ache we whip out the easy to work Maggy Gara Short Popper. The short and sharp bloops are a dinner bell for fish like this GT...

This Maggy Gara Popper is stripped of paint but its effectiveness shines through...

The FCL Labo EXT 81MH rod is worked overtime...

GT after GT, the cameras click and the fish are set free...

The CSP HS does it again. No fanfare. It just does the job...

Red Bass are an amazing fish. Crimson eyes look ablaze as they shun the limelight...

Much regret in taking this FCL SPP Tuna, but most predators can't seem to resist...

In the shallows the skipping Fisherman Long Pen popper is hard to beat...

Can't deny we had the Christmas spirit onboard...

Santa tries his hand at popping, wasn't very successful...

When the fish move in with the tide, we head into shallower waters in search of them. And find some...

Courtesy of the Fisherman Long Pen...

All hands on popping deck. FCL Labos for all aboard...

In the evening there is no break for tired hands. There's light jigging to be done with fish like this Coronation Trout waiting for a dropped IMA Gun Peki jig...

On the ultra light Evergreen Temujin 'Spider' spin rod this nice Long Nose Emperor is more than a handful and we are lucky to get it in the boat...

The IMA Gun Peki jig is proving itself everywhere that nothing comes close in terms of fish-catching ability...

The limited candy coloured IMA Gun Peki scores a nice Coral Cod...

And then accounts for this Triple Tail Wrasse...

Emperors patrol these protected waters where we anchor for the night. For fighting ability they are hard to beat. They love IMA Guns too...

Another Emperor falls for another limited coloured Gun Peki...

Triggerfish are highly inquisitive, if not territorial. An intruding DUO Ikakko won't last a second without being hassled...

The girls have fun with the 4lb outfits and DUO Ikakkos with the little Triggers...

The action is unending with the little Ikakko...

Over the Maldivian week, little treats come in all forms...

Testing with a potential FEED Bell design for more serious game yields this nice GT...

Though we didn't hit any trophies, the excitement generated from the explosive topwater strikes and thrilling battles that ensued made all aboard happy...

As always the FCL SPP Tuna stickbait continued to shine...

With GT fishing you'd never be able to guess the size of the next fish that hits. Even small fish like this pull hard. Such is the lure of GT angling...

The FCL Labo CSP HS does more damage...

And its not done yet! With another great capture to follow the last...

The FCL Labo CSP HS - Maldivian lure extraordinaire...

It is the last day and the last drift over a jigging spot. And one man claims them all, first with a nice Coronation Trout on the Shout! Stay jig...

It is followed by a nice Bluefin Trevally, also on the same Shout! Stay jig...

Thirdly, another Coronation Trout. This one bigger than the first! Shout! Same Stay jig again...

And lastly a beaut Green Jobfish on the very same Shout! Stay jig, worked with the Majorcraft Giant Killing jig rod. Amazing...

The GTs continue to be cooperative on topwater lures. This one falls for a prototype stickbait...

Poppers draw some attention too, this dark GT shows it's pissed...

The Fisherman S-Pop scores...

Throughout the trip we were blessed with great food!

Some greater than others...

As the sun sets on another fulfilling trip, we can only look forward to the next...
