Took a day's off the busy schedule to spend a day on the water putting a few miles on some new prototype lures from a new protagonist in the market. This brand is in line to release its first series of lures as the models are near ready for production. We learnt alot from this day and we found some confidence in the few models available for the market in time to come. The feedback from our tests should help make them relevant for our conditions and quarries. Here are some catches, though not monsters they helped gauge the effectiveness of the prototypes...
On most trips we always have a few Majorcraft rods in spin and baitcast guise on hand. They are great value for money and can't be beat in terms of performance versus cost... |
First to score was a long-lipped jerkbait. Peacock Bass react well to fast twitches... |
Shortly after, another PB hits the deck. On the Majorcraft Troutino rod it was some joy to fight... |
Small deep jerkbait taken deep... |
A great adversary on the ultralight trout rod, this Giant Snakehead providing some tense moments as it went for the snags. It fell for a shallow jerkbait... |
Another shallow jerkbait victim... |
We tried some crankbaits too, and this one scored... |
Shallow jerkbait does the damage... |
And another as well on another colour variation of the shallow jerkbait... |
There were some decent Peacocks thrown in but all in all a very tough day on the water... |
This natural colour deep jerkbait scores. Megabass Destroyer 'Saratoga' is a great rod to work these baits... |
Shallow jerk in shocking white scores a nice PB... |
Small deep jerkbait gets the fish of the day... |
Big jerkbait, small fish... |
Long lipped jerkbait goes to the required depth... |
Deep jerkbait is a stand out for PBs on this day... |
