Can't say no to a session with ultralight finesse tackle on a landlocked brackish system stocked with some desirable species can you? Just what I thought, so it was gear in hand as we looked to spend a few hours in this quaint lil' village somewhere in East Malaysia...
Four casts was all it took to elicit a strike from this Mangrove Jack, on the DUO Spearhead Ryuki twitched madly...

After a couple of misses this was the result of an explosive take. The Ryuki smashed hard by this Yellowfin Trevally, a close cousin to the GT...

Spearhead Ryuki - master of the twitch!

Another twitching sensation is the Jackson Athlete, here with another Yellowfin...

A nice hard fighting GT, brutal on the new Megabass Orochi X4 finesse spin rod used to work the DUO Ikakko, a lure that's become synonymous with ultralight saltwater game...

To spice things up we broke out the poppers and scored more Yellowfins. These tough puppies were a handful on light rods like the Majorcraft KG Lights...

Managed another smaller Yellowfin on the DUO Poco Poco popper before the bite shut down...

Had a surprise when this Barra ambushed a twitched IMA Bta close to the rocks...

Close up of the IMA Bta 60SR...

Another pass along the same rock bank and this nice Flowery Cod latched on, it was a tough job using the ultralight kit to keep it from burying itself back in the rocks...

That's the IMA Bta deep down...

Ever seen a hunch-backed Barra? This one didn't show any disability when it took this Jackson Athelete...

The session was capped with yet another willing Yellowfin Trev on the effective IMA Bta lure. Had fun, will be back!
